Lame excuses
« on: July 28, 2012, 08:25:02 PM »
Ive just been reading & listening to the comments of the British cyclists who lost todays Olympic road race, Mark Cavendish blamed the other teams because they had rode " negitavely " , was he expecting them to slow down a bit so he could come past ? ???
Another said that the crowds had cheered them on so loudly that they couldnt hear the instructions coming though on their intercoms ! ???
Have you ever heard so much cobblers ? the reason they lost is because the others peddaled faster & they only instructions they needed were, be the first over the white line.  ???

Sorry Chicco mate, you're out of touch with that theory.
Those races are all about tactics. its a team effort, almost like playing football on wheels.
The winners team happened to get in a blocking position for our man, that's why he didn't win, nothing to do with pedal power.

I seem to remember that the English Team - 4 of them -

were out on their own     -    with a 6 minute gap -  and  24 miles to go ????

What Happened   ?????      - did they stop off somewhere  for Coffee ??????

fair play to all those cyclists, saw the final of both races, boys and girls terrific effort, i could not cycle up the shop and back without a break, the  missus loves the lycra, but says it dosent look right on me,also  i must be anatomically different to most cyclists, personally i couldnt sit on anything smaller than a decent armchair on a bike, let alone ride it for six hours.

well done again to all,

ps rain looked good

Its always the same with armchair sports critics, they are the ones who have spent a lifetime watching instead of taking part.
Just getting to the Olympic games is a fantastic achievement in itself, and reaching the qualifying rounds is phenominal.
Every sportsman and woman from every country taking part has worked extremely hard over a long period of time and they all deserve much more merit than being lambasted for not gaining a position on the podium. I rest my case your honour.

I am sure Chicco said in the first post that it was the Athlete who was complaining about the noise of the spectators and their fellow Athletes for not helping them to win .They have their opinion and so do we as do you PPP .You have been found guilty of  misinterpretation  :P

On the contrary my learned friend........I have in no way misinterpreted any evidence............Mark Cavendish was not heard to say anything in complaint about noise from the spectators, he did say 'The noise from the spectators gave us all a boost and was something we will always remember'
He also said 'The Australians rode as they always do, sitting back and letting others do the work' The ones in front, who were Team GB most of the time were doing all the work and others stayed behing in the slipstream, ie: coasting.
Mark Cavendish is the worlds fastest sprinter, every other team knew that and tactics took place from the start to stop Britain winning, no more so than by the team from Australia.
I stand by my charge and suggest they be banished back to the colony.

At Olympics Time, The whole world become `experts`, in sports they never even heard of, at least they are taking some interest,  and hopefully keeping their Baccy, and Beer by the `telly`   wiv `em.  plus the ashes ,and stubs ?

Did you read the post PPP it said nothing about Mark complaining about noise it stated another rider complained of the noise. Because the Aussies did not help GB you want them banished back to the colony ? tactics were used by all teams .

I have an idea for filling up those empty seats at the Olympics.

Why not fill them up with people who want to see the events... a radical concept I know but sometimes you have to think outside the box.
